PROJECT OF STRUCTURAL PANELS FOR DESIGN OBJECTS

We continue our quest for solutions to give a second life to textile waste generated during Albini Group’s production process.

Through the collaboration between ALBINI_next and the startup Nazena, we introduce Materico, a new material for designing structural panels with applications in various fields, from packaging to furniture.

Materico is composed of cotton fibers, which are carefully selected and sanitized. These fibers are then shredded and bonded with natural adhesives through a patented process developed by Nazena, all in the spirit of upcycling. The process does not involve the use of any harmful chemicals.

With this innovative material, ALBINI_next has created the supports of the new Ex Natura catalogue, showcasing fabrics from Albini Group, made possible by the Innovation Hub projects.

The colour of the supports comes directly from the original cotton fibers, with white and denim blue fabrics being chosen in this case. This choice eliminates the need for a dyeing process, resulting in resource and energy savings.
